Child Allowance Program (JIDO-TEATE)

Child Allowance is provided to support families in raising healthy children and in maintaining a solid family life.

Qualification:

A family member who is raising children until 12 years old and having the most income in the family (usually either one of the parents);

Being registered as a foreign resident with an appropriate resident status. Resident status based on a short stay visa or a business visa is not applicable.

When you have a high income, Child Allowance may not be provided.

Allowance Amount:

5,000~10,000 yen per month depending on the number of children you are raising. (Until 12 years old)

Procedure:

The family member who has the most income in the family will be the applicant for Child Allowance Program. Other family members may take care of the document submission on behalf of the applicant. Please go to Children & Family Welfare Support Counter (Kodomo-katei-shien-gakari) at Chino City Hall and submit following documents to apply for the program:

1)Certificate of your income for the use of Child Allowance Program (Jido-teate-yo-shotoku-shomeisho).

Certificate for Income Tax Deduction for Dependants Shotoku-kazei-fuyo-shomeisho-koofu-shinseisho).

2)Applicant’s Health Insurance Certificate (Kenko-hokensho).

3)Applicant’s Foreign Resident Registration Certificate (Gaikokujin-torokusho).

4)Children’s Foreign Resident Registration Certificate (Gaikokujin-torokusho).

5)Applicant’s bank book. Postal saving books are not appropriate.

6)Applicant’s seal (Inkan).

Please make sure that you submit all the necessary documents. The above documents will be reviewed to determine whether you are qualified for the program. If your application is accepted, “Approval Notice for Child Allowance Program (Jido-teate-nintei-tsuchisho)” will be mailed to you. If your application is rejected, “Rejection Notice for Child Allowance Program (Jido-teate-nintei-seikyu-kyakka-tsuchisho)” will be mailed to you.

Annual Update about Your Family:

Please renew your qualification for the program annually in June.

You will receive “Update Form for Child Allowance Program (Jido-teate-genkyo-todoke)” from Chino City Hall. Please fill out the form and submit it to Chino City Hall. If you don’t submit the form, you will be disqualified from the program.
