Message from the Mayor to Newcomers to Chino

Creating our city together

Chino City is located in the center of Japan. It is a highland city lying in an area called "the roof of Japan" with an altitude which ranges from 765 to 2899 meters. We are blessed with clear changes of the four seasons: rich alpine flora in the spring, a pleasant summer with little humidity, colored leaves in the fall, and snow in the winter. Chino is also a land in which our ancestors prospered as far back as 5,000 years ago. Our city has the oldest national treasure in Japan, a clay figure called "Venus of Jomon".

Chino City has been working in partnership with its citizens and administration to create " a city based on lively interchange, living in harmony with the Yatsugatake mountains."

I believe that "kind, yet powerful Chino City," will be realized through the shining participation of each citizen and also by our efforts in creating an affluent city living in harmony with its abundant nature.

I will do my best towards making you feel that Chino City is your second hometown. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
