REMOVING SNOW ON CITY ROADS

Please offer your cooperation for snow removing and melting operation.

Chino city conducts snow removal and snow melting agent scattering operation to secure safe traffic in winter so that citizens can use community roads essential to their safety in daily life.

Removing snow on city roads

The total length of arterial road from which Chino city removes snow reaches to about 173 km. The city entrusts 28 private companies with snow removing and about 40 snow removing cars are operated. As it costs a lot of money to conduct the snow removal operation, the city sets up a rough standard and conducts snow removal operation according to the standard so that commuters and public transportations are not influenced.

However, as the operation conducted by the city is not enough to secure the safety of traffic, your cooperation is required. And also, as for snow removal of a road whose snow is not removed by the city operation, cooperative operation of local residents is required.

A standard for conducting snow removal operation

In case of the amount of snow cover exceeds 10cm, and it becomes an obstacle for traffic.

Melting snow operation for city road

To designated areas such as steep slopes or places out of the sun of arterial road (50 route; 59.2 km), snow melting agent scattering operation is conducted by 5 agent- scattering cars depending on the condition of ice-covering.

On-the-street parking becomes an obstacle for snow removal

Even a single car parked on the street causes delay of snow removal operation, and the operation around the car may be abandoned. Moreover, a snow-removing car may scratch the car. Your rational conduct is requested.

Request for removing snow in front of your house and streets

Snow removal operation must be conducted within a short period before the traffic gets heavy. Though unavoidably piled up snow in front of your entrance or car shade may cause you trouble, there is no other choice but to do so because of the ability of present snow-removing devices. Your generosity and cooperation are solicited.

Snow removal near fire hydrant

Sudden snowfalls may cover up the fire hydrant which is needed in case of fire fighting. The fire company or fire brigade members conduct snow removal, but sometimes they can not remove all. If there is a fire hydrant near your house, please remove the snow.

Snow dump place

Snow dump place is not open in case of usual snowfall. In case of record heavy snowfall, snow dump places are designated by Chino city.

Do not put snow on a street nor put it into a river

Putting snow in the street creates a setback for traffic and may cause a traffic accident. Also putting snow into a river blocks the river and may cause the freezing of the road surface. Therefore please have good manners and do not conduct the aforementioned things.

Please use snow dump place

4 snow dump places are available in Chino city. Please use these places if you have no place to put snow. Please keep in mind not to put snow in the streets or into a river. Furthermore do not mix snow and garbage. Thank you for your cooperation.

Please keep in mind the followings,

・Do not put snow containing garbage or earth and sand in the snow dump place.

・Do not put snow near the entranceway.

・During ground making, conducted periodically by an excavator with hoe equipment, do not enter the snow dump place.

・We are free from any responsibility on accidents occurring in a snow dump places.

・Do not put snow there at night

・Please remove the snow on footpaths or exits of your house.

・Please iron up ahead of time. (It’s dangerous to iron up on the streets)

・Please keep in mind that a snowy road is very slippery.(Sudden acceleration, rapid acceleration, and, making a sharp turn and braking hard are very dangerous)

・Cars parked in the street become an obstacle for snow removal. (We try to complete snow removal before your commute. Please understand the snow removal operation.)
